The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) offers health plans to its members. These provide third-party coverage brokered through the organization. Products available to all eligible members are AARP long term care insurance and AARP dental insurance. The long term care plans are available to eligible participants who anticipate the increasing needs of elders as life spans lengthen. The dental plans cover most common procedures, offering the capability to choose one's own dentist from the approved list. These plans are considered to offer quality coverage that has been developed over years and in response to members' stated needs.
AARP History
AARP is an advocacy group for elder Americans; as such, it lobbies in Washington on behalf of people over 50. It also disseminates information and refers members to services such as insurance plans, specialized tax services and financial advisors. It is considered a watchdog organization for people over 50.
AARP Medical Insurance Plans
Members can obtain AARP medical insurance quotes by filling out an online form. The quotes will be generated by the insuring companies themselves, since AARP is merely an agent to connect its members as potential customers. Thus, the screening begins: available only to AARP members (1st level), the insurance companies then screen geographically (not available everywhere) and according to any other criteria they maintain. Once it is established that a person is eligible to apply, the process begins. A quote is requested of the insurance company. Once all qualifications have been met by both parties, the applicant can choose the plan that works best for his or her circumstances. Products are divided three ways, according to age. Those for members between ages 50 and 64 include AARP Premier Essential Health Insurance and AARP Hospital Indemnity Insurance. Premier Essential Health Insurance provides individually selected health insurance plans that come with quality coverage. The AARP Hospital Indemnity Insurance offsets primary insurance plans with fixed benefits on top of other primary health insurance payments. Both are subject to availability and approval. Beginning at age 65, AARP members can apply for any of the three plans in conjunction with Medicare: Complete, Supplement, or MedicareRx. The only one of these plans that is comprehensive is AARP MedicareComplete, which includes the same benefits that were covered with Medicare, as well as fitness benefits, no limitations on pre-existing conditions and prescription drug coverage. The Supplement costs less than Complete and is designed to aid in covering some of the out-of-pocket expenses associated with Medicare's partial payments. AARP MedicareRx supplements Medicare Part D in a similar way, saying it can make prescription drug costs more predictable.
Medical insurance quotes can be requested at MedicalInsuranceQuotes.com, which features a search engine that sends out a request for up to five quotes simultaneously. Agents of the company then generate a quote and get back in touch with the potential client.
